When gout isn't under control, it's time for a different approach.
If you're still experiencing painful flares, high uric acid, or tophi despite oral gout medications, you may have uncontrolled gout. You're not out of options.

Gout is more than painful joints.
The pain may be in your joints, but gout is a systemic disease caused by the buildup of uric acid crystals. These deposits can extend beyond the joints and have been identified in other tissues, including the heart and blood vessels, kidneys, and other areas of the body. Treating uncontrolled gout means addressing the underlying uric acid burden, not simply managing the next painful flare.
For appropriate patients, KRYSTEXXA® (pegloticase) takes a different approach, converting uric acid into a substance the body can more easily eliminate and dramatically lowering uric acid levels.
Could your gout be uncontrolled?
If any of these sound familiar, our team can evaluate your condition and determine whether advanced treatment may be appropriate.

Treat the disease, not just the flare.
Pain and swelling are what you feel during a gout attack. But treating the inflammation during a flare doesn't remove the underlying uric acid burden driving the disease. For patients with uncontrolled gout, the goal is to address the disease itself, not simply the next flare.
Are you a candidate for KRYSTEXXA?
Here are the steps you need to take to thoroughly diagnose your condition and determine if you are a strong candidate for infusion care for your gout.
Meet our team
Meet with a MediFuse provider in person or by telehealth to review your gout, symptoms, previous treatments, medications, and overall health.
Understand your gout
Blood work (labs) helps evaluate your uric acid level and other important health factors. When appropriate, advanced imaging such as Dual-Energy CT (DECT) can help identify and measure uric acid crystal deposits and provide a clearer picture of your overall urate burden.
Determine if KRYSTEXXA is right for you
We'll review your findings, previous treatments, and overall health to determine whether KRYSTEXXA may be an appropriate next step. KRYSTEXXA is indicated for adults with chronic gout that has not adequately responded to conventional therapy.
Prepare for treatment
If you're a candidate, MediFuse will work with your insurance to obtain required authorization and complete the necessary pre-treatment steps. The current KRYSTEXXA regimen generally includes methotrexate started before KRYSTEXXA, unless methotrexate is not clinically appropriate, as well as required safety screening and premedication.
